Fashion And Student Trends is a student-initiated, student-run, non-profit association designed to bring the world of fashion to the University of California, Berkeley. FAST is an ASUC (Associated Students of the University of California) sponsored organization in its 6th year of operation on the Berkeley campus.
Our organization is dedicated to nurturing the talents and needs of students interested in the fashion industry, including designers, models, artists, photographers and students seeking corporate fashion experience. Each semester, FAST members design, prepare for, publicize, and host a runway show featuring the creations of our talented student designers, Berkeley’s only fashion show of this kind. Through these shows, FAST contributes to the greater community by giving all proceeds to a reputable charity. Past recipients include the National Organization for Rare Disorders, SF Hep B Free, and the California Alliance for Arts Education.
FAST also presents several professional development events throughout the year, including design and sewing workshops and career info sessions with fashion-related employers. In the past, FAST has invited Cal students to an info session with DFS Galleria, owned by Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, and sewing workshops introducing the basics of fashion construction. Even more events are planned for the 2008-2009 school year, all aimed at helping FAST members learn more about fashion design and the industry.
Fashion and Student Trends is a network of unique, talented individuals, all united by a love of fashion. Come check out our meetings to get involved and be a part of the Berkeley fashion community!
